Macbook Pro Speaker/Sound Help

My sound isnt working on my cpu. The microphone on the top bar is grayed out, unlike the others which are in black. Also the headphone jack on the side of the computer has a redlight, something I have never seen.

Please help, thank you

I seem to remember having this problem a while ago.
Have you tried a simple reboot?

yes, have restarted it and problem still occurs

Have you done a search of the forums or even googled it, i remember reading something about a red light in the headphone jack.
Failing that wait and i am sure someone else will post their ideas.
