PC equivalent of TextEdit ... (?)

Someone with a PC could not open an attachment which I sent using Word 2004 for Mac. She says:

Nero media player pops up but then it won't open it. I would love to sort this question out as it is not the first time I have had this problem!

Could someone pse advise?

Sounds like her file associations are broken.

Assuming she doesn't have Word, you could have her open Wordpad by going to Start => Run => type: wordpad.exe and press Enter. Once Wordpad opens, use the File menu to dig open the file.
