My January 2008 MBP crapped out on me last week. The graphics card is dead so there is no display on the LCD or an external monitor. Note: Even though I can't see anything on the screen I'm assuming it is booting into Snow Leopard and still connecting to my Linksys router via Wifi.

My new MBP is arriving today and I was wondering if it's possible to browse and transfer files over from my old MBP? Would some kind of file sharing option via system preference (on the old MBP) had to have been enabled first?

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet and easiest option is to use migration assistant which can transfer everything over - over a network or with a Firewire cable - the faster option.

Putting the old mac into transfer mode would be easy - even with the graphics not functioning.
