New guy with question

Good day!
Thought I would see if anybody could help me here.
My G5 has a very faint soft sound coming from the tower. I can hear it when it's quite in the office, nothing playing.
It goes like this:
beep.........beep...........beep..........beep continiously with out stop. And sometimes while scrolling, I can hear a faint tinkling glass like sound hard to describe.
I've had this unit for a couple of years and it has been a reliable good performer.
Any thoughts?

You might want to check the Apple boards. I remember reading some about this some where.

Happen to be browsing on this issue. Someone suggested that he turned his processor setting to Automatic, restart, no more beep...beep. Well, it worked. Don't know why, but as of right now, the beeps and tinkling are gone.

My wife's 800Mhz Gen 2 iMac used to do that. It stopped when she upgraded to Tiger....
