What I ordered(in the exact same order as they were ordered online):

From Ebay
-OWC 60GB SSD for PowerMac G5
-Locking tow hitch pin
-*Light* rear tail-light tint for my Pilot
-Step/nerf bars for my Pilot
From OWC
-OWC 240GB SSD for MBP
-OWC 8GB Ram for MBP
-OWC 2.5" to 3.5" HDD adapter
From Ebay
-OWC 120GB SSD for MPB(optibay)

So far, this is what has come in-
-the 60GB ssd looks...sweeeet...
20110912-t5rtf72kafqunu9f656de12gwh.jpg

I can't install this yet because the 2.5-3.5 adapter isn't here, but I will install a fresh OSX on it.

-The rear taillight tints didn't look as good as I thought they were going to, so I took them off. Not even worthy of a pic.
-The hitch pin is awesome! I'm sure you all know what a locking pin looks like.

The order from OWC will be coming in tomorrow. The 120gb will probably come in by the end of the week(bought it used).

You have NO idea how impatient I am right now! :(
I'll post pics of all the updates/installs of everything once I can actually install them.

Wow, you sure did go on a shopping spree. ;D How much did you pay for the 60GB SSD for the G5? I've been considering it for mine, but it's already set up as Raid 0 with 7200RPM drives. Do you think I would notice much of a speed increase?

Good luck with the rest of your purchases, and hope they get to you fast! :D

I picked it up for $85(shipping included) with a coupon that I had off of ebay.

I still have a raid0 setup on my G5 with 2x500gb WD drives, which offers very decent performance. I will also mention that I had a OCZ 30gb Agility SSD. The OCZ was noticeably faster than the raid0 setup. And still, the OWC in the G5 makes it run like a beast! It's like a completely different computer!

I actually am not 100% sure if I'm going to keep all 3 of the OWC drives. I might sell one of them.

I had to post pics. lol.

I'm actually having problems reading the 240. I can't see it anywhere, which means I can't format it.
I created a Lion backup on a 4gb usb-hdd, and it doesn't see it either.
It sees the 60gb just fine...though it has been formatted on the G5.

Hmmm...

I'm going to try the Snow Leopard install dvd to see if it shows up on its Disk Utility. I believe that should work since it is new.

That did the trick.... though, I installed SL first because I think the Lion recovery(fresh install) hung. Besides that, everything is working perfectly smooth!

PS: I've been typing from my G5:)

Yikes, $85 is pretty expensive. I think I'll wait for the prices of SSD's to come down before I pick one up. It's not like I actually need one now anyway. ;)

If you think $85 is expensive, I just dropped 400 bones alone on the 240gb!
I'll actually probably end up selling both the 60 and 120gb owc ssd's.

As promised, here are my Pilot's step bars. It took a little longer because the bracket they made for this was NOT suited to safely let people put weight on the back of the step bar. My hand alone could push it down! Modified the rear brackets, and and now it's not going anywhere:D

Happy with the end result, and now I know better as to how much it can really handle.

I got SO fed up with kernel panics, ssd problems, slow speeds, and etc, that I returned everything I bought back to OWC. When I spend $470 dollars, I expect them to make my computing experience better! I ordered a WD Black 500gb hdd for my mbp, ad am just waiting for the time to install it. I also ordered 8gb's of ram from Crucial for $42 shipped(hasn't come in et)...$28 cheaper than OWC. I'm back to 4gb, and it's running smoothly with the 120gb owc ssd.

They were pushing me to accept an exchange for a new 240, but that would have put me over my time frame for accepting a full refund.
I politely said "no thanks."
Then they put me on hold so they could speak to an ssd tech they had.
My representative came back on the line maybe after 15-20 seconds(!) and tells me that her ssd tech "expert" said it was a problem regarding my ram.
When I told her that my ram was just purchased from them, she quickly put me on hold again.

Note: Replacing the 8gbOWC ram with the 4gb I already had got rid of most kernel panics, and slow downs, but the sad was not performing as advertised.

She comes back on and asks me what my mac model identifier was, and I told her MBP5.1
After being put on hold again, she comes back and says that her expert said that the 5.1 has problems with the "new 6g ssd's from OWC."

I had to gather myself, so I asked if she could hold on for a minute. I muted the phone and said some pretty words.

Then, I got back on, and told her to double check which ssd I just bought from them.
I told her it was the sata-II 3g, even though I'm pretty sure she already knew it and was just trying to find excuses to this problem.
All I wanted was a refund!
Also, some of you might know my problem with AT&T...I can handle one, but two? No!

In a gentle, low, angry voice, I said, "I want an RMA number for a full refund."
She put me on hold, and the phone conveniently hung up on their side!
I called them back, and had to do everything all over again.
After maybe 1 and a half hours of sitting in my chair, they finally sent me my
RMA# via email.

Sorry OWC, you just lost a customer! Was not expecting that crap from you!

That does not sound like a very nice experience. I would have gotten her name and asked to talk to her manager.

Wow, that's awful customer service. You paid for the SSD, it doesn't work right, a refund should be one of the first things they offered you!

Yeah, actually, I got the manager on the line the second time I called. I wouldn't have wasted my time escalating anything, I just got lucky.

As for my setup now, I just finished installing the WD Black 500gb. I also had the chance to install the Lion iso file on my network hdd(just as a test), and to my surprise, it actually worked. Though, I did loose everything on it because I had to reformat it to GUID. I'm happy that it worked out, and was REALLY surprised how quick lion installed! Like really, I mean it when I say surprised!

I was hoping for this to end in a big SSD success story. :\
