does anyone know how to remove old safari browser

Does anyone know how to remove an old safari browser and install a new one? Also what new browser could I install for a Mac os x 10.4.8/

Software Update will give you the latest version available for your current OS.

Lots of people seem to like Chrome. I use Safari most of the time, but also have Firefox installed.

No new Safari will run on 10.4.8. It's too old and too many changes to the OS since then.

For Software Update you click the Apple in the top left corner and on Software Update. There was an update to Safari and many to the OS since 10.4 Tiger was 10.4.11 at the end.

You don't Uninstall the older Safari. That is the Windows way. If there is a newer one, Software Update will do it for you.

I'm fairly confident that Safari 4.1 is the most recent version of Safari you can get for Tiger. It may require 10.4.11 though.

Pretty sure it does require the latest Tiger. I have a feeling if he runs Software Update it will all happen including Safari.

When i run software update it lists java and mac ox combined . It does not list safari or any other browser. Not sure what to do next?

Safari will be updated as part of the combined update.

thanks for the suggestions. I am such an idiot and I was wondering if there is a possible way to retreive my administrator name and password as I have seemed to replace that info. i have not looked at it in years so I don't remember it. A friend of mine set it up for me years back and I have since lost touch with him ( he had knowledge of MACS).
