Using Lion OS X.7.1, the Mouse file under System Preferences has done a runner. No longer appears and is not available under 'Show All' either. As a result wireless Mighty Mouse no longer scrolls and cannot reset preferences.

Any suggestion as the where this recalcitrant rodent might have moved house to?

Maybe Harry a 3rd party App hasn't been able to update drivers or something ??
I had a similar problem with my Remote Pairing missing in System Preferences>Security.

Found on a Apple board that a App CandleAire that i dl a Long time ago had to update its driver for it to appear in SP for me to disable the remote sensor.
Something to think about.

Thanks mate. Have not used any 3rd party mouse software. Using a stock standard Mighty Mouse.

I'm guessing you already tried a restart and a different USB port.

Looked in System Info at the USB yet?

Probably try a SMC reset. I've seen that restore a couple of other missing System Preferences.

Yes thanks but no joy. Looks like a clean install coming up from my thumb drive.

Ran Lion from thumb drive and again downloaded the X.7.1 update all in about 30 minutes and Mouse Preference Pane is back in its home.
