I installed just the free AVG LinkScanner on both my Macs. Both constantly show a "You may not be protected" screen, saying under Search-Shield: "One or more plugins not active." I have both Safari & Firefox open and checked everything in LinkScanner Prefs. Nothing in their FAQs on this. AVG's free tech support is non-existent.

Do yourself a favor and uninstall that application..a lot of these free programs use scare tactics to get you to buy the full version by claiming that you are exposed to threats..

Just be aware of what sites you are visiting and more importantly what programs you are installing. If you get prompted for your password for installation, be absolutely certain that's because you WANTED to install something and not out of the blue..in which case cancel out and don't enter your password..

+1 for the above advice. AVG is one of the worse AV and scanner programs even in Windows. It's a resource hog and famous for false warnings. If you really feel you need some sort of AV program, download and install the free ClamXav program from here.
