Cpu help!

Hi Mac forums.

My mac has 89 processes going on, and only like 12% is not getting used of my CPU..

Its really slow..

How can i get less processes?

What programs are you running?

Try quitting applications (including menubar applications.)

I am trying to reduce it that way, but i am afraid of quitting something important in the monitor..

It is extremely laggy! Its insane how much it lags.

open activity monitor and show us a screenshot. we can tell you what you need to turn off.

And make sure you are actually quitting programs and not simply closing windows using the red button.

Might also be interesting what your specs are. Maybe you are running the latest OS on an "under-RAM'd" (is that a word?) machine or some other intense apps.

Then, if you want post a screenshot of the activity monitor showing CPU usage and another one with memory so we can have a look at this.

harryb2448's comment was very helpful as well: Have a look at your dock and make sure not all apps have that little blue-glowing dot below their icon. Clicking the red 'x' usually doesn't quite applications, just closes the window. Use "command+q" to quit an app.
