Your monitor recommendation

Hello,

I am a semi professional photographer and currently am using my 13" MacBook Pro to edit my images. I shoot Nikon and use Capture NX2.

I would like to add an external monitor with a larger screen and one with excellent IQ.

Which monitor would you recommend and also, what do you think of the Spyder 3 Pro calibration device?

If you're looking for a really good monitor...I don't think you can go wrong with a 27" Apple Cinema Display...but at $999...it ain't cheap.

Other than the Apple Cinema Display which has already been suggested, my vote goes to BenQ displays.

Ive got some fellow photographer friends who use calibration devices on their monitors and some that don't. Ive been thinking about getting one for my MacBook Pro but have held off so far because i really like the way the images look as is and don't want to screw anything up lol.

What is your opinion regarding calibration devices? I have used the internal mac calibration device a little when i want to adjust contrast but honestly, i just use the default monitor display setting and it works great.

Would love to know what you think.

Using a BenQ 22" LED and do not bother with calibration with Photoshop.
