Ok so my brother wants to trade computers and Ill add a few hundred bucks on top. I have the mackbook pro 2010 and he has the 2011. I have 8 gigs of ram so I was thinking can I just switch out the hard drives and the ram and itll still work? Cuz I really dont feel like reinstalling everything all over again its so much stuff. The only problem im thinking is if theres drivers or something on that hard drive cuz they have different CPUs

That's right. Even though they have the same case, the guts are different.

You can always connect the two with an Ethernet cable and use Migration Assistant to port all of your stuff over to it. It's actually very easy to do.
