macbook desktop issues

OK so i need my mac book desktop screen is not working any icon on my desktop are invisible and can only be seen when picked up and a few items i put in my trash and deleted are still there when i go into my finder under desktop everything normal and my doc works just normal I'm on a mac that 1 and a half years old and I'm running mac osx 10.6.8

Have you rebooted the Mac ?
Did you run Repair Disk Permission in Disk Utility ?

It always helps to add some punctuation (periods & commas) in a post. Personally I found your post hard to understand/read.
