2006 macbook pro wont start

When i press the power button, the white light comes on..and stays on..I dont hear a chim or see anything on the screen..I dont have recovery disks..and live about 2hrs from apple store...rather not make the trip if possible...
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT!! THANK YOU

Sounds like a serious hardware problem. Light comes on, no chime, screen dark, may indicate a power supply failure or even a dead logic board. I don't think a 2006 MBP is worth spending a lot of money on for repairs. But that's up to you. If you can find an authorized Apple repair center near by, perhaps you can take it on in and get an estimate of repairs.

just got back from apple store...they said its not coverd under the nvida recall..but they can replace it for 310.00....its in great condition.(other than motherboard).only paid 60.00 for it..soo i might give it a try..

In that case go for it. A 2006 MBP in great condition with a new logic board for only $310 + $60 is OK.

This just in..APPLE store guys were Wrong.just saved 310.00..I just reflowed nvida chip myself...and it booted right up!!
