I have a white macbook. 2006/07 model i think.

I recently bought an iphone 4, but it says my OSX is too old to support the iphone. I tried plugging it into my friends macbook pro to put some music on it, and i ended up wiping the whole thing.

When i try to update OSX it sits and 1% and does nothing. Can you get a disk to update it or anything? Can i just skip straight to Lion? Or need snow leopard first?

How can i get music onto my iphone and organise my photos ect? Other than that i LOVE it.

Thanks.

Hi there Davenz,

First off if the Macbook is a 2006/2007 model then the latest operating system you can install onto it is OSX 10.4 (or Leopard), you will not be able to install a higher OS on this system.

You will unfortunately either have to use a different computer solely for your iPhone, or it may be a case of upgrade time.

I think Buzzard must have been up too late last night. ;P

Only PPC processors are stuck maxing out at Leopard 10.5.

Since every MacBook uses an Intel processor:

Every MacBook made can run Snow Leopard 10.6 - Intel Core Duo or Core 2 Duo chips.

Every MacBook with a Core 2 Duo chip - all those made from Nov '06 forward can run Lion 10.7.
I have one that is running Lion.

To answer your question, what version of OS X do you have? What processor is in your MacBook? (Click the Apple and select About This Mac if you don't know.)
