Hi guys,

I am reformatting my sister's macbook since she got a new one. We don't have the original disc but I do have a copy of Tiger (what she had originally) that I am using. I have actually tried severeal different copies (Leopard... 10.5 10.6 10.7) and none work. For OSX Tiger, it will not even boot from the cd. For the other versions I have, it boots (but they are osx86 discs) and when I try a clean install nothing happens, it just reboots back into the cd after the install.

Any ideas without having to purchase another disc? X_X

Unless they're retail copies or the original Tiger DVD that came with her MacBook they're not going to work. How did you try to install Lion and what are you using to do the install? Lion should install on her machine since it's a Core 2 Duo.

I was able to install using a 10.5.6 osx86 cd with the default settings (instead of unchecking all the customization options in an attempt to install a 'like retail' copy)

I'm going to try and upgrade it now to Snow Leopard. It is an older macbook (A1181), but you're saying it should take Lion?

You are using pirated copies of OSX and that is against the rules here at Mac Forums. If you pay for Lion and her machine has at least a C2D Cpu and not a Core Duo, it will install.
