ok, i have installed adblocker to safari. I am running snow leopard 10.6.1 and I am wondering what I can do to try to prevent spyware? From my understanding malware usually isnt an issue as long as im not downloading anything. I only stream video and use itunes for downloads. But I wanna know what options I have for spyware... thank you

Update to OS X.6.8 and do not worry about it. If you do not visit porn or pirate sites you will have no problems. Never download anything that requires your admin password.

i visit porn.. and am not gonna stop, but I will upgrade to 6.8 but will I still have to worry about spyware and ad ware? It would be nice to have something to stop the spyware. And is adblocker a hack to stop the ad's? Is there any spyware blocker available for my system? And thanks for the advice about upgrading!

There aren't any Spyware or Adware for Macs. Just don't download or install any video codecs to watch streaming videos on the porn sites. They might have Trojans. If you install Perian and Flip4Mac you'll be able to watch any video format safely.

Porn away. Don't install anything from a porn site that claims to be a video codex etc. Nothing can affect your Mac without you enter your admin password and allow it to install. Don't do that, and you'll be fine.

harryb2448 gave you the best answer and you could empty your cookies /cache after visiting those sites besides using private browsing or turn them off (cookies) in Safari

Re. Adblockers: depends really. The site you're blocking would probably ethically consider it a "hack", but if you're using a Safari extension to block ads, it's technically just a sanctioned Safari add-on.

Re. adware/spyware blocker: There have been a few cases of malicious software for OS X, but they are usually so well publicized that Apple releases a fix to protect against them right away. So don't install any programs from untrustworthy sources and keep OS X up to date and you'll be fine. Thousands of members here run their systems with that attitude and haven't ever had issues, so with a bit of common sense a Mac is easy to maintain.
