I just bought my first Mac and when I was attempting to calibrate the battery I stopped paying attention and the computer went into sleep mode with a few programs running. I've noticed that a lot of places say closing out of programs is vital to the calibration, so my question is what can I do now that the computer has already fallen asleep with apps running. Do I need to restart the whole process or will it still work?

HAve a read of this kb article Apple Portables: Calibrating your computer's battery for best performance. Not sure what you where reading that says its VITAL to close out the Apps. No you don't. Just make sure you save your work along the process so when it does finally die you have your work saved to start again once the calibration is finished.
