I am relatively new to Macs, but dove right in and have 4 Macs in my household now.

This week I rec'd 2 new MacBook Airs with Lion preinstalled. When powering up, both display a login screen requiring a click on the user icon. Both Airs only have 1 user each. My older Macs, that initially had SL and were upgraded to Lion, do not display such a login screen.

Each of the 4 Macs only has 1 user account, and none of the accounts have passwords. Any ideas why such an inconsistency?

Thanks, John

There is no discrepancy here. Auto login is not the default of any clean installation of OS X nor of any Mac out-of-the-box, which means that sometime in the past it has been enabled on the 2 older Macs.

Interesting...don't remember making such a change, but I must have changed something.

I just checked both my MBA and iMac, and the "Disable Automatic Login" option is OFF on both machines.
