Hooking laptop to TV

Hi there. When I hook my macbook to my tv, via S-video, it only shows display image (no dock, icons, etc). How do I remedy this, and also, how do I get sound? I was doing this to watch movies from my macbook on my TV. Thanks!

You need to connect an audio cable from the headphone jack to the audio ports for the S--Video.
