Hey everyone, i currently have my mac mini connected to my 50" LED tv through HDMI (tv) and mini-displayport, but now i want to set up the mini on an external computer display (call me crazy for being able to get more work done at a desk then sitting in a recliner!). Anyways, the external display has a DVI port so i am looking to do a HDMI to DVI cable connection.

Should i expect any problems with audio or resolution if i connect it through a product like the belkin HDMI to DVI cable? Belkin HDMI to DVI Cable - Apple Store (U.S.)

I'm not expecting any problem's but i thought i would ask, maybe someone recommends are better product to connect the two?

Cheers

That cable is only going to give you video output to the monitor since DVI does not carry audio.

Similar setup here, Mini HDMI > DVI for monitor, using the adaptor supplied with the Mini, but using audio out to amplifier and external speakers. Works a treat. Downside is space occupied, and numerous cables.

The V'sonic monitor does have direct audio input, but the speakers are - ahem - pathetic.

No work around. DVI is not capable of carrying audio. You're going to have to do it the old fashioned way of using a separate audio cable to the audio port on the monitor - "assuming" the monitor has speakers.
