hard drive compatibility issue

i was running a western digital drive with mac osx 10.6.3
i switched to a hitachi drive that is running osx10.6.8
i have the 2.66 ghz quad core entel xeon 8 gigs of ram
the new drive locks up anybody got an answer for this problem?

Does it lock up in any other position? In other words, have you tried it in any of the other slots?

Where did you get this hard drive? Was OS X installed while it was on a different Mac?
Because different hardware requires different drivers, OS X installations are Mac model-specific.

Boot from your Snow Leopard disc, holding down 'C' after the chime, leave installer and go to Utilities > Disk Utility > Repair Disk > Partition and choose GUID. Then back to installer and run it. When finished download the OS X.6.8 Combo Updater.
