Hi

I have a macbook pro, a Mac Mini, 2 x iphones, a media PC (streaming all music and films - and thats all it does). Thats five items - the max authorised.

What happened when I get an iPad 2 and/or iMac (which I hope to). I'm sure there is away to have more than five devices synced as Apple seem pretty set on households living an apple/digital lifestyle. One I'm very keen on. But I seem to have hit a wall with this 5 devices issue.

Any help needed.

There is a limit of 5 computers. Your iPhones do not count toward that limit.

Open up iTunes and log into your account to verify how many devices are currently authorized.

You can choose once a year to unregister all five devices, then re-register the ones you want to keep. Apple recommends unregistering any computer you are no longer using, whether it be disposal, sale or whatever, so you don't inadvertently lock up all five of your registrations prematurely.

Yep, I've hit that 5 computer limit myself a couple of times due to giving away / selling computers, changing hard drives, etc... before I learned to go in and deauthorize them individually.

In your iTunes account, just hit that deauthorize button and then go back and reauthorize the 3 computers you have currently. As EvenStranger pointed out, you can do this once a year.

Hi i have just purchased a new iMac and trying to set up new accounts etc, regarding the 'Authorising' issue, is it the 'computer' you authorise or each iTunes account? i.e. 2 users on the iMac 2 iTunes accounts = 2 authorisations?

cheers

It is the number of computers for each account.

I believe it is once every 12 months - not calendar year.
