Under Lion, Search in the Finder sidebar seems to have disappeared, and there is nothing in preferences that allows this to be added. Is there any way to add Search back to the sidebar in Finder under Lion? The ability to quickly list files changed today, yesterday, etc was invaluable.

Nope, it's still there ... they just moved it.
1. Create a new Smart Folder in Finder. Customize as you like.
2. When prompted to save, it will automatically want to go in "Saved Searches." This is the correct place for this. An option to add the new Smart Folder to the sidebar will be available.
