PowerMac/Tiger question

I want to donate an old computer but first must erase. PowerMac G5 running OSX Tiger. I have the original software. Using this (in some way??), will erasure be complete. Lots of personal info on the hard drive. Thanks, Bill W

You should boot the mac with the original restore disk (C key on startup)

You should get to the install / restore screen. You may have to choose the language first but before you install the menu bar should show up at the top of the screen. Go to Utilities meu and select disk Utility.

You can erase the disk from there, you have the option for a secure erase as well if you wish, there should be an option for this.

Once the disk is erased you can quit disk utility can continue wit a fresh install

Depending where you're donating your computer...if you REALLY want to make it easy...you could simply remove the hard drive before donating it.

I'm usually not a big fan of this...but it is an option.
