I don't expect a solution to this, I don't think there is one. Just want to share this for the pure weirdness factor.

I have an iMac from 2011 that I control with an Apple Remote. I also have a LG 47' LCD TV. The TV has a feature called energy saving mode which can be set to Off, Min, Med or Max. This basically controls the backlight settings. The TV and the iMac are NOT connected.

When I set the power saving mode to Max (backlight off) my Apple Remote STOPS WORKING! As soon as I change that setting to anything else it starts working again...

How about that? Do I get the award for the strangest tech-related issue? :D

It's very obvious why it's happening. That 47 Foot screen is emitting powerful radiation which is driving your Apple remote crazy. ;P

Did you pair the remote to the iMac that should isolate any outside commands.
