MacBook Pro 13' covers and cases

I have an Incase hardshell and a backpack with a non-padded slot for a laptop...For carrying my MBP around campus, is this adequate or should I upgrade to a backpack with padded slot or buy another case for both shell and MBP...Any ideas or past experiences would be helpful
