Partition with S.L.?

If we can run parallels or Fusion to run Windows... can we do the same and run Snow Leopard so we can run PPC software since Lion stopped supporting those apps?

Course you could have SL on a partition but the days of PPC are severely limited.

So the answer is "yes"... I can partition and run SL so I can continue to use an old app that won't be upgraded?

Answer is NO...!!! Frustrating as all ****... Installed Fusion but Fusion says none of my install disks are Install Discs... ***??? They are too!! Tried Leopard and Snow Leopard.

Are you trying to run Leopard or Snow Leopard in a VM? You can not run either in a VM, that's why Fusion won't recognize them as install disks. You'll need to create a separate partition on your hard drive and then install either Leopard or Snow Leopard.

Tried parallels too does the same thing.

Anyway, tried partitioning, can't do that either, keeps failing.... and I have no clue as to why.

Here's the error....

Uh, no, not necessarily. If the machine shipped with Lion, then NO, you can't have a Snow Leopard partition.

(I realize this does not apply to MACyMouse's 2006 machine, but just to clarify)

You probably can't partition your own boot drive, but you COULD install Snow Leopard onto an external drive. As cheap as they are these days, that's what I would do. I have a drive right beside me that contains a bootable clone of my drive as it was just BEFORE I upgraded to Lion. I don't really need it, but it WAS handy to help a friend who discovered some valuable AppleWorks documents he needed converting. I boot from the Snow drive, opened AW, exported the docs into more usable formats, saved em on a thumb drive and booted straight back into Lion.

Boot from your SL disc - open up Disk Utility and run Repair Disk. Then try partitioning again.

Make sure you have a backup before you go playing with partitions.
