I need some help buying my first iMac and wanted some people with more experience than me to give me some good advice.

I am planning on buying a refurb 2010 iMac with an SSD drive i7 or
a 2011 iMac i7 with a 1tb regular hard drive.

I am aware that there are some differences in the chip set and graphics card but what do you guys think I should do. The 2011 is actually 100 dollars cheaper.

I plan on using it for gaming and video editing.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Buy the 2011. Not only is it newer, but it also sports later technology - Thunderbolt. Also $100 less expensive - the SSD drive is not going to make that much difference anyway.

Agreed..if the 2011 is cheaper, always go for newer technology..

I'm sure the SSD isn't huge either. For video editing you'll need a bunch of space so I'd vote for the 2011 as well.

Yep.

And newer = compatible for longer.

Yep it's 256 gb sorry. I also read that perhaps a SSd drive can be added later via thunderbolt, perhaps for a cheaper price too. Thanks for advise.
