I currently own a 2008 (I think...) black MacBook, 2.4 Ghz, 250GB, 4 GB RAM. I decided that I want to purchase a Cinema Display for my computer so that I can wirelessly use the apple keyboard and magic trackpad to access my computer from afar. However, a few problems have arisen... My computer being an older, yet perfectly functional and great computer, only has a Mini-DVI port whereas the Cinema Display connects using a Mini-DisplayPort. I went to the apple store to ask if connecting my computer to the display would be a problem and one man (who seemed like he knew what he was talking about) told me that it was possible if I used a couple cables. I would need a F Mini-DP to M/F HDMI and a M/F HDMI to M Mini-DVI. Problem is that it is very hard to find these cords if they even exist! So, I come here to ask: Is connectivity between my computer and the display even possible? If so, where can I purchase the cords necessary to make it work? And if worst comes to worst and I cannot possibly connect the two, are there any suggestions for displays of similar size with great picture quality and a much simpler hookup? Thank you!

I'm not sure you need all the adapters you mentioned, but you can look on the monoprice web site to see if they have what you need. You can even talk with them and ask. Go here.

Did a little bit of research and I found out the following... Mini-DVI to Mini DP does not scale correctly so you do actually need to buy a converter. There is currently only one company that makes this converter and that is Atlona. They seem to be a legit company and the link to the converter can be found here: Atlona Technologies connectivity solutions, cables, splitters, extenders, distribution amplifiers, converters, switchers for commercial, professional and industrial applications. This converter basically means that you would only have to purchase a Mini-DVI to DVI cable that apple itself sells and then connect that cable to the converter. It can be done! It just takes a couple cables and a not so small lump of money. Hope this helps anyone who has the same issue as I did!
