In case anyone is planning on upgrading the memory in their Mid 2011 iMac, here's a heads up on the procedure.
Assuming you're adding the modules to the bottom bank, be careful to press them in until your hear or feel the second "click". After hearing or feeling that first click you might assume the module is seated. It's not.
As a matter of fact it takes considerable downward force to get each module to seat properly. (second click) These are some of tightest fitting memory banks that I have ever run across.
Just be careful not to damage anything. If you have strong fingers, OK. If not, use a clean cloth to help press down on the modules to seat them.
