Updating drivers for sound card in MacBook Pro

Hi There,

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.7 Lion and I am using it to edit sound for a film in Adobe Audition CS 5.5. I need to update the drivers for my sound card so that I can save it in 96khz sample rate 24 bit-depth.

Are you talking about your integrated laptop soundcard, or a mystery external interface? recent MBP soundcards can already record/playback @ 24bit/96kHz.

If you are unable to save in such a format this is an issue with AA CS5.5, not your soundcard.

You do know what a driver is, right?

Um. . .not really. I just posted this because Adobe said it could be a driver issue.

All that indicates is that you got hold of a Windows Adobe rep.

Now that is true! He talked about Dell and HP only.

Jump back on the phone to them and specify that you want to talk to someone about an issue related to a Mac install of CS5.5.

Yep, that's common in the Windows world, since the operating system and hardware are made by two different companies. Because Apple controls both the operating system and the hardware, no special drivers are needed until you start using third-party hardware and peripherals. Driver updates are done automatically via the Software Update mechanism when/if needed.
