upgrade hard drive question

ive seen online that you can take the caseing off a portable seagate freeagent go hard drive and put the hard drive in your macbook has anyone done this or anything?
im not sure if this the right section for this

Moved to correct forum.

I'm not sure if the Seagate Free Agent bare drive is of the correct thickness to fit properly within a MacBook or MBP. The drive must be SATA, 2.5" wide, and no more than 9.5 MM thick. If you remove the casing, be sure to measure the drive.

its the same measurements i think it might work

i backed up my macbook useing superduper can i just put the other harddrive in that the backup is on or do i need to do more?

No, restoring with SuperDuper is fine. Just install the new hard drive first. Then boot from your SuperDuper clone and clone it back to the new hard drive. Nothing further is required.
