Display on external monitor is plagued with red dots and horizontal lines, this only occurs with certain resolutions (particularly high resolutions). I have a late 2010 revision of the Macbook Air ultimate 13inch, using a Griffin mini-display to DVI/HDMI (i have tried both HDMI and DVI), display is an ASUS 24inch (have also tried a dell 23inch, to the same problem). I would really like to be able to use this display with my Air but the red flickering is annoying to view.

Okay, I'll do that next time I'm out. I assumed the adapter would be fine if it outputs to my 20" monitor fine.

You should have mentioned that in your first post rather than only mentioning two monitors it does not work on.

Try a reset of both PRAM and SMC.
You should get the Apple kb article as the 1st or 2nd hit with a google search of "reset PRAM" and "reset SMC".

just got home and tested after doing the resets, no improvement unfortunately. The 24" monitor still shows red flickering.

Next step is still to try another adapter and cable.

After that and still a problem, it's time to take it in to Apple.

You might try emailing Griffin and see if they are aware of this being an occasional issue with their adapter.
