Well, duuhhhh!
Did anyone here really expect Apple to release two iterations of the same product in the same year? Have they ever done that? I don't think they have, but I'm not 100% sure on that one. But still, it just wouldn't make any sense at all. Annual schedules have worked great for Apple and makes the most sense (to me).

Apple released and gave out OS X 10.1 for free 6 months after 10.0's release. 
In terms of hardware, PowerBooks used to have a cycle a little shorter than a year if I recall correctly. 2008 also had two separate MacBook Pro releases.
