Show duplicate songs in iTunes

When I am in iTunes I can view my duplicate songs in my library but it grays out the show duplicate songs option when i am viewing the contents of my iPod. How do I see the duplicate songs on my iPod. I have the newest version of iTunes and a 4g iPod.

So it won't allow you to see the dupes on the iPod? How do you synch your iPod, Manual or Auto?
