As we know quicken will not run in Lion. Is it conceivable that I could create partition and install Leopard in it to retrieve my quicken files?

Will Lion allow me to install leopard in a partition?

I haven't found any other resolutions...other than find a Mac running Leopard or VMware.

As long as you create a separate partition you should be able to install either Snow Leopard or Leopard on it, install Quicken and then retrieve your files.
