I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion within a couple of days of it being released (would have been sooner but had to wait ages and ages and ages for it to download).

With SL installed my MacBook would power up and load the OS and let me start using it within 30-40 seconds. Now I have Lion it takes several minutes to load the OS and get to the desktop - it's like owning a Windows laptop :(

Is anyone else experiencing increased boot up times under Lion?

Any ideas how I can speed things up?

System Preferences - Startup - select your OS X partition and reboot. Let us know if that does it.
