    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Hello there. I am looking for a Capture Card for my iMac. It will have to be a usb external capture card. I am looking to plug in my Analogue DV camcorder and record all of my films onto the hard drive of the Mac. I then want to be able to import the video into iMovie or iDVD where I can edit them.

Thanks :)

Greetings

I feel there may be some confusion here. You can't have an analogue DV (digital video) camera.

Is it a machine that records to tape? The content of the tape will be digital and you can import it straight into your iMac in the normal way - by Firewire.

Sly:

That would be a recommended solution for HD video, but it's double the price of my suggestion (which, I should have clarified, was for SD, low-rez or pre-existing video like VHS, Beta etc). I'm sure Intensity is TOTALLY worth it for HD however.

Just looking at other options. There are not a lot of options out there AFAIK other than some of the Canopus line which is as expensive.
