I'm a newbie trying to set up Apache with PHP (before even attempting MYSQL). Apache appears to be working as the localhost 'It works' page loads. I can ping 127.0.0.1. However, when I add a test file to the Web Server/Documents section and try localhost, the error message appears that 'Safari can't connect to localhost'.
I've set up Web Sharing but can't connect to my computer's website address. Pinging this just results in (swift) timeouts and 100% packet loss.
I repaired disk permissions and noted that the SUID on vpn had been modified so this would not be repaired. Prior to this, I was getting the 'ping:nosend:no buffer space available.
Can someone please, please help me to set up Apache with PHP or should I just download MAMP even though I'd prefer to run with the preloaded software.
My Macbook Pro is 2010, 10.8.6 intel.
