• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

One of my friend received by one of her friend in japan some movies on CD. Those movies are in (.avi) with subtitle (.str)... She wants to watch them on her DVD player. I'm sure that I have everything here to do that (eMac with DVD burner) but I don't know how! If you know the answer, please be very clear in your answer, c'ause I'm realy not a technician! :)))...thanks! :)

You can use a shareware program called ffmpegx. If you go to http://www.ffmpegx.com you can download the program and they give you a step by step guide on how to burn dvds with selectable subtitles on their website. If you have any problems their forum is really helpful, but I don't expect you'll have any. It's literally drag a file and drop into the program. Good luck, hope it works out!

Wow, this is one heck of a zombie thread. Almost 3 years old.
