Hi,

How do I stop the mail client leaving a copy of a message on the server?
It is set to do so for sent and trash, but I can't find the option for inbox.

Thanks,
Will

Go to:
Mail, Preferences, Select which Account you want to adjust, Go to the Advanced Tab, select "Remove copy from Server after retrieving message".

Some advice: Think twice about invoking that option. Leaving email on the server can be a life saver if you ever accidentally delete an important message on your machine. I know that I have gone back to my ISP server (GMail) on many an occasion to retrieve mail that I lost or didn't mean to delete on my machine.
