Marathon downloading lion ?

it is a marathon downloading lion os at midwest comcast, it is showing 5 hrs +, should I cancel and go to an apple store ?

I have a different internet/cable company than you but mine initially estimated 4 hours and it took about 1. If you start it and looks like it is moving too slow, cancel and go to your Apple store instead.

Do you mean go to the Apple Store to do your downloading...or go to the Apple Store to buy Lion?

If to buy Lion...I don't think that it's available yet for "physical" purchase (thumb drive).

How long did your install take ?

Install was roughly 35-40 minutes. I think it depends on your machine. How fast the processor is, how much RAM, etc.

Install was about fifteen minutes on a Quad Core Mac Pro. Download was some forty minutes. If you have a reasonably fast broadband connection, switch off the router for a few minutes and reboot everything and see if there is any improvement.

finally done after 6 long hours download, created a backup usb drive, how to test the backup is good ?

It should be good if you can boot from it!

Look at the USB drive and see if the install icon appears, and run from that. On a thumb drive six icons, installer, Media Background, private, Library, Packages and System.

I have created the backup thumb drive, how do I install to another one of my mbps from this drive ? using 'option' key while booting up ?

Did you make the Flash Drive in Disk Utility the proper way with the Restore command? If so, after the Startup Sound, Hold Option and pick the OSXESD and click the arrow under it.
