URGENT HELP REQUIRED: Mac completely unresponsive!

Hi all,

My Mac battery recently ran out of life so before I could afford to replace it, I was running the mac off of the mains. One night about a week back, it just decided to completely shut down and when I tried to start it up again, the green magsafe light turned red for a few seconds but nothing else happened.
I thought that maybe replacing the battery would solve the issue so I ordered a new one which was delivered this morning but still nothing. The magsafe light comes on green and doesn't flick red anymore but it still doesn't start up.

Any ideas?

Hmm, just tried that and still nothing... What else would you suggest.

What model of Mac portable is this, and what is the approximate age?

It's a standard 13 inch Macbook. And it's approximately3 years oldi
