PLEASE HELP: menu bar and dock does not appear on desktop

im using macintosh for a long time, and 2 days ago when i turned the computer on i couldn't get my desktop back. i have all the files on the computer, nothing was deleted, but the menu bar and the dock does not appear.
PLEASE HELP. thanks
