how to open cwk files

Looks like you're going to need to convert them into a more modern format as Apple Works does not run on Lion.
A cursory Google search found this program:

Which appears to be able to convert cwk files to more modern formats like docx (Word).

That won't help the OP at all, since these are DRAWINGS and not word processing files.
Eddie, you will probably need to buy this:
What's New
It's the only thing I know of that a) runs in Lion and b) will open CWK drawings (AppleWorks 6 only).

If you still have a computer that runs Appleworks you can use it to do the file conversion to something more useful. It may be a slow process though since I think it will have to be done file by file rather than as a batch of files. Generally the process involves opening the file in Appleworks,choosing Save As and then selecting a new filetype. Can't be more specific than that. It has been years since I used the program and didn't use it much when I had it.
