Hi there,
I recently purchased a macbook from cex in the uk, and it came with one of the palmrests covered with glue, not sure what type of glue, however, i managed to get a discount for it, and the guy at the counter said that white spirit will remove it, however, i tried that, but nothing happened.

Does anyone know how to remove glue from the shiny polycarbonate plastic palmrest on my macbook (without ruining the finish of the gloss).

Your help would be much appreciated

Many Thanks In advance

Not knowing what type of glue it was makes it more difficult, however, any kind of strong glue removing solution will definitely ruin the finish on the white MacBook. And there's a good chance that the glue has already settled into the plastic (poly-carbonite). You may be better off replacing the top case if you can find one at a decent price. Perhaps on eBay.

Oh man, thing is that this is the unibody plastic macbook, and the top case is part of the whole bottom of the laptop (unibody) therefore, it isnt simple like on the old macbooks to replace the top case.
