Mounted drive or apps don't appear on desktop

Now that Ive updated to lion mounted drives or apps don't appear on desktop, how do I change this back to the way it was?

Do you mean you can't see the source hard drive. Your hard drive on your computer. If that is the case click on finder menu then at the top click Finder/preferences/ general/ then click to show hard drives etc.

I don't know that actual apps will show up on the desktop. You can find them in the applications folder and drag them out that way or make an alias and drag it on the desktop. I would not recommend that though. I understand that doing that will/could slow your system down.

Is that what you mean?
