Hi Chris - welcome to the forum! :) A great place for Apple users & plenty of wonderful people here who post - hope you enjoy.

Now, I'm a 'wine enthusiast' and am currently reading the 2nd edition of the wine book shown below - through DNA analysis a while back the popular California grape Zinfandel has been finally tracked back via the boot of Italy to Croatia and is the grape in the quote below - my question to you is how would this be pronounced? Thanks for any input - :) Dave

California Zinfandel- until only recently, Zinfandel was California's "mystery grape" because its origins were unknown. DNA fingerprinting has confirmed that Italy's Primitivo and Crljenak Kastelanski, an ancient Croatian variety, are genetically identical to Zinfandel grapes.

Hi Kevin - funny as usual and likely right - LOL! I've been following this Zinfandel story for decades and once DNA fingerprinting emerged and the grape was traced back to southern Italy (heel of the boot in Apulia), known there as the Primitivo, I thought no problem, but then further study should a Croatian origin and an ancient grape - still quite fascinating - the Balkans were a 'grape highway' for ancient vinifera to enter Europe (especially the eastern countries), along w/ Mediterranean sea routes, especially by the Phoenicians & Greeks. Dave :)
