Deleting songs in itunes

When a song is selected in the iTunes library, the delete button in the menu bar edit list is no longer active ....faed out I can only delete using the control click option to. Bring up the drop down menu. Is this a change in iTunes 4?
It is this way in both snow leopard and lion. can this feature be reactivated?

Personally I think this is a bug in the current version of iTunes, but until they get round to fixing it (after you use the "report bug" feature, obviously), having to right-click is hardly what I'd call a big deal. In fact, it's more convenient than having to go to the menubar to do the same thing.

There's also the "highlight and press delete key on keyboard" for those people who don't like right-clicking for some reason.
