Hello All,

I am planning to buy a used Mac Pro tomorrow. How do I know if it really works? I will test it before I buy it ofc, but that not guarantee anything. Is there any tools I can run that checks the hardware?

Thanks

Start it up and insert Disc one of the original install discs. Reboot and hold down 'D' and when Apple Hardware Test opens, run in extended format which will take a couple of hours if you and the seller have the time. This checks motherboard, graphics, memory etc. Of course to do this the seller must have the original discs.

No. Not a good sign no install discs. You do need them to access Apple Hardware Test.

Talk to the seller and ask him if he'd give you at least a 30 day warranty if you get the thing home and it has a catastrophic hardware failure. If he says no, I wouldn't buy it.
